In Which I Learn How to Fix My Own Hair

My name is Kristen. I am a grown woman. And I don't really know how to do my own hair. Last week, I visited Salon Acote, where my stylist for the evening, Melissa, helped my fine flat hair achieve bouncy waves. I decided to try her method yesterday morning, telling myself I would take no longer than five minutes (anything hair-related taking over five minutes is not realistic for me). So I set to work with a curling iron and some hairspray.

Oh. My. God. Big news, ya'll! Apparently, you can fix your hair with a curling iron and hairspray! It's easy (ish). And, since I Aqua Net-ed the heck out of my hair, it looked amazing all day! Usually, whatever style I luck my way into is dead flat by the time outfit photos come around. I'm afraid it is beginner's luck...we shall see if I can re-create this lock look in the days to come...

And let's talk about the outfit for a bit, shall we? This is one of my classic favorites of mixing stripes and florals...er...paisley. "They" say that horizontal stripes do not help one's figure, but I love this striped skirt, purchased on sale last year from Mint Julep

Speaking of Mint Julep, lest you forget, their BIG SALE starts today! Come and see some of the goodies I picked up on my Facebook page, and be sure to check out Mint Julep's amazing deals on gorgeous, unique clothes.

  5. This top is awesome! Your hair looks great. I saw your pic of your pixie cut. You've done a great job growing it out, whereas most get frustrated and keep cutting. Kudos lady!

  6. There you go with pattern mixing again! The outfit looks great, as does your hair. I can only do the left side of my hair with a curling iron... somehow I'm not coordinated enough to figure out the right side, so my general M.O. is to beat my hair into submission with a flat iron.

  7. @Angel Garcia Right? THE NET. How could I even doubt that my hair would be immobile after such a spray!!

  9. @Shanna-Marie Beattie Growing it out was NOT EASY. And that damn Emma Watson and Michele Williams were like sirens calling out to me to get my hair cut again...they still are. Some people give up smoking but always crave cigarettes...I will always crave the pixie!

  16. Fabulous skirt!! You know, I don't know how to fix my hair either. I just kind of let it dry and do whatever it does. Sometimes I'm ashamed, and then I remember I like to sleep in as much as possible :o)
