It's a truth universally acknowledged, if you're a small town in New England, on the first weekend of December you hold a Holiday Stroll. Possibly the great grand-daddy of them all is the Nantucket Christmas Stroll, established in 1973, and now the biggest island event of the year (I'm told even bigger than Independence Day). With every shop in town offering specials, and often wine, it's easy to get overwhelmed! If you're headed down to the 2016 Nantucket Christmas Stroll, here are a few suggestions:

Where to Stay:

White Elephant - Just steps from downtown, this cozy spot also manages to seem secluded and quiet. It offers an incredible restaurant (Brandt Point Grill), a very civilized port and cheese hour in the library, and luxury amenities like complimentary BMWs for rent. White Elephant is simply the ne plus ultra of a Nantucket stay. (50 Easton Street)

Where to Shop:

Charleston Shoe - This is your first stop. Why? You're going to need some seriously comfortable (but cute) shoes for all this strolling on cobblestone sidewalks. The friendly shop girls at Charleston will help you pick out an adorable pair, and you'll be shocked at how great they feel! (18B Federal Street)

Vanderbilt Gallery - I'm not normally one for bling-y jewelry, but something about a holiday stroll makes donning breathtaking crystal earrings not just okay, but divine, dah-ling. Vanderbilt has an incredible selection of one-of-a-kind gifts, and spectacular statement jewelry. (18 Federal Street)

Nantucket Boat Basin Authentic Shop - Pick up your "official" Nantucket Holiday Stroll scarf here (these are super collectible), as well as other unique island souvenirs and treasures. (33 Straight Wharf)

Aunt Leah's Fudge - Warning: Give a person a box of Aunt Leah's fudge, they will love you forever. Use this power for good. (16 Straight Wharf #3)

Monelle - If you feel a little chill in the air, stop by Monelle for their famous pom pom hats. If not, stop by anyway for their gorgeous selection of clothes and accessories. (Zero Main Street)

Where to Eat:

CRU - The brunch at CRU is one of the top reasons to come to Nantucket. The view, the oysters, the laid-back but attentive service...You will want to stay all day! (1 Straight Wharf)

Nantucket Prime at the Jared Coffin House - Craving surf and turf? Here's your spot. Pick up a poached pear salad, too - trust me! (29 Broad Street)

Table No. 1 - It's no secret that I'm a sucker for a good wine and cheese shop. I cannot resist them. And why should I, especially when, during the Nantucket Christmas Stroll, Table No. 1 offers wine and oyster pairings. I think I have found my heaven. (7 Old South Wharf)

  3. Today, I want to share a little part of my bedroom with you! I love decorating for Christmas! This year, now that I am married, I wanted to show you how I like to spruce up my bedroom for Christmas! I got many of these smaller pillows at Target this year! The smaller ones are from the dollar section at Target! The red/green make it a little more festive! My nightstand has HotSkwash pumpkins on them! I have a lot of these! They are so addicting! Each pumpkin is hand made using real pumpkin stems! They come in so many fun colors!

  6. Woah! I'm really enjoying the template/theme of this website. It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's tough to get that "perfect balance" between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say you've done a very good job with this. Additionally, the blog loads super quick for me on Safari. Superb Blog! PaintNumbers

  9. It is important for our students to be able to quickly identify sight words and then to be able to spell them. This activity makes a fun literacy center, fast finisher activity, or morning work task.

  10. But do you think it is effective for every student? I agree with your words that it can enhance their skills but the understanding matter.
