How to Wear Keds

We've all been there: You put together a stellar outfit, then teeter around in your stilettos all night. Cruising a cobblestone street (so common in the Hub), you damage a heel. By the end of the evening, your shoes are ruined and your feet are throbbing. You shrug your shoulders and think "beauty is pain".

But it doesn't have to be! Try creating outfits with footwear that is both charming and comfortable. And yes, such a thing does exist. I recently collaborated with Keds, Lord & Taylor, and fellow bloggers Amy and Nicolle to create some looks around the stylish sneaker. Each blogger styled a set of outfits, which we showcased on clothing racks and models. Keds Creative Design Director Michelle Kelchack and Lord & Taylor Visual Merchandising Director Nicholas Delegianis judged our looks while we chatted with customers. I am thrilled that my look - metallic Keds paired with lace shorts and a turquoise blazer - was selected as the winning outfit!

Keds' new collection retains the classic feminine shape and casual comfortability you recognize in the brand, but it also showcases enthusiastic prints and brisk colors - the shoes really exude an individual perspective. At such a reasonable price point, you can pick up a couple pairs and style away. Try pairing them with a flirty skirt for a date. Slip some Keds under a wide leg trouser and a sleek blouse for the office. Want more inspiration? Click through my collection above - you'll be amazed out how fresh and versatile the time-honored brand has become!

Which look do you prefer? How do you style your Keds?

    1. I LOVED Michele's electric blue pointers! Unfortunately, Keds doesn't actually make this shoe. They make the electric blue in the regular Keds shape, and they make pointers in a number of shades, but her particular pair was a test pair. Maybe we'll be able to convince her that the world needs better access to bright blue pointers!

    1. I love the idea of a beach look - the shoes easily slide on and off, but are great protection from the hot asphalt in the parking lot...Hope to see you soon!

  4. I adore my Keds! I have a pair of the red slip ons from the collaboration they did with Gap a few summers back. They're comfortable and make me feel instantly chic and I love what you did with them in this competition :) Keds have come such a long way!

  8. Honestly, I can't believe some of those are Keds! They've come a long way from the plain white pair I used to sport as a youngster! I absolutely LOVE the outfits you've created - I would so rock one of those in a heartbeat! Congrats on the collaboration, too! Awesome. :)

  12. I was so disappointed to miss this! I absolutely love the outfit you put together - especially those shorts - and I can't believe how many cute options Keds has. Now if only they made a pair with a thick rubber platform wedge...

  14. So sorry to have missed this, and of course your looks is stunning! I love those lace shorts (and wish I wasn't feeling too old to pull them off!). Still bogged down with kitchen reno but nearing the end. Fingers crossed.

  15. This sounds like it was loads of fun. I'm so jealous because we never have brand events like this in my area. I'm seriously thinking that it's time for me to relocate!
